The 2024-25 Application Cycle is now open through Friday, February 7, 2025

The San Jose Sharks partner with the Golden State Warriors, Bay FC, San Francisco Giants, and San Jose Earthquakes on a joint scholarship program for high school seniors, forming the Bay Area All-Star Scholarship Team (BAASST). Each sports team does its part in contributing to the BAASST program by identifying one outstanding student and awarding each of them a scholarship of $5,000.

A teacher or school administrator must nominate all scholarship candidates. To nominate a student(s), the school official must attach a letter of recommendation describing the unique qualities, achievements and circumstances that make the student(s) an exceptional scholarship nominee.

Student applicants must meet the following criteria for nomination:

  • Be a college-bound senior currently attending a Bay Area public high school.
  • Must possess a social security number or individual taxpayer identification number.
  • Display leadership qualities in the classroom.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 from sophomore to senior year of high school.
  • Demonstrate the value of education, good work ethic and community outreach.

Each student must submit the following information to complete this application:

  • BAASST Application Form
  • Taking into consideration academic achievement, extracurricular activities and community involvement, please write a 2-3-page essay explaining why you believe you are a deserving BAASST candidate.
  • Two letters of recommendation from non-relatives. The teacher, principal or counselor who nominated the student must write one of the letters of recommendation.
  • Official transcripts from each high school attended.
