ANA@SJS: Getzlaf taps home Terry's feed

Anthony Stolarz made 27 saves in his second straight start for the Anaheim Ducks in a 4-1 win against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center in San Jose, California, on Wednesday.

Stolarz made 46 saves in a 4-0 win against the Sharks on Monday to set an Anaheim record for most saves in a shutout. It was his fourth start this season and 21st over four NHL seasons.
"I just want to keep going out there and showing that I can play in this league," Stolarz said. "Obviously there's a lot more hard work ahead, but I'm happy with the last couple games here."
Alexander Volkov and Derek Grant each had a goal and an assist for the Ducks (14-23-7), who are 3-4-1 in their past eight games, with all three wins coming in San Jose.

ANA@SJS: Volkov scores at the doorstep

Erik Karlsson scored a 6-on-5 goal at 17:44 of third period to make it 3-1 and spoil Stolarz's chance for a second straight shutout.
Josef Korenar made 23 saves in his first NHL start for the Sharks (18-20-4), who have lost four of five.
The Sharks are in sixth place in the Honda West Division, four points behind the fourth-place St. Louis Blues, who lost to the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 on Wednesday. The Ducks are in eighth place, nine points behind the Blues. The top four teams in the division will qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
"The most disappointing part is we didn't gain any ground when the guys we're chasing didn't gain any ground," San Jose coach Bob Boughner said.
Ryan Getzlaf, who sat out four of the previous five games with a back injury, gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead at 8:08 of the first period. It was his first goal in 15 games.
Anaheim dumped the puck deep into the San Jose zone. Karlsson got to it first but tried to pass the puck through his legs to teammate Dylan Gambrell. Troy Terry intercepted and had time to skate above the goal line and center a pass to Getzlaf, who scored as he held off Ryan Donato.
"Without picking on one guy or another, but if you ask Karlsson, he'll tell you he's better than that," Boughner said. "We have to make better decisions with the puck and he's guilty of that."
Grant, playing his 300th NHL game, got position in front of the crease and redirected a point shot from Josh Manson for a 2-0 lead at 2:29 of the second period.
"I was just trying to get to the front of the net and Manson made a good play shooting through the traffic," Grant said. "I'll take those any time I can get them."

ANA@SJS: Grant extends the lead on redirection

Volkov scored from in front off a feed from Max Comtois to increase the lead to 3-0 at 13:40.
Volkov has five points (four goals, one assist) in seven games since he was acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 24.
"He's extremely responsible, and we're seeing that he has some quick hands," Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins said. "He and Grant are starting to feed off each other a little bit."
Sam Steel appeared to give Anaheim a 4-0 lead at 2:32 of the third period. San Jose challenged for goaltender interference and the goal was nullified on video review when it was determined Steel pushed Korenar's pad, causing the puck to enter the net.
Jakob Silfverberg scored on the power play with 30 seconds left for the 4-1 final.
"There's a lot of hockey left and we're still in the hunt," Sharks forward Tomas Hertl said. "We have to put this behind us. We know we can beat [the] Minnesota [Wild on Friday]. We've done it before."
NOTES: Defenseman Haydn Fleury made his Ducks debut after he was acquired in a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday in exchange for defenseman Jani Hakanpää and a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
