Burns is now tied for first on San Jose in points (43) and blocked shots (107), second in assists (31) and is tied for third in takeaways (42). League-wide, he is tied for 10th among all NHL blueliners in points. Burns currently has points in eight of his last 12 outings (two goals, eight assists) and is eight away from 700 career NHL points.
The six-foot-five, 230-pound native of Barrie, Ontario was originally drafted by Minnesota in the first round (20th overall) of the 2003 NHL Draft. The defenseman has currently played in 536 consecutive games, dating to Nov. 21, 2013, holding the second-longest active streak by a defenseman in the NHL.
