After one game of home cooking, the Sharks are back on the road for their second East Coast swing of the season. Tonight they start the road trip off in Philadelphia, hoping to avenge their Opening Night loss to the Flyers.
The Sharks are coming off of one of their most complete games of the season, a 4-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets, one of the West's top teams. Special teams in particular were very successful; the Sharks killed all three of their penalties, scored a shorthanded goal, and converted on 50% of their power plays.
However, goaltender Martin Jones emerged from the game with both another shutout (lowering his GAA making it second in the league) and day-to-day status. Goaltender Antoine Bibeau has been recalled on an emergency basis from the San Jose Barracuda for the meantime.
After their 5-3 win over the Sharks on opening night, the Flyers haven't done quite as well, and are currently 6 points out of a player spot in the Eastern Conference. However, in the NHL, any team is dangerous on any given night - especially on their home ice - so the Sharks will have to look out for that Broad Street crowd.
