Welcome to the Gameday Blog, the one-stop shop for San Jose Sharks fans on every gameday. This blog will be updated throughout the day with news, lineup information, videos, and tweets, so be sure to check back as the day goes on.
It's the final road game of the regular season for the Sharks, as they also face their final Pacific Division opponent when they visit the Vegas Golden Knights tonight.
As has been a more frequent occurrence lately, the Sharks are coming off a playoff-like game against the Nashville Predators that saw the team end their 9 game point streak with a 5-3 loss. That isn't to say it was a bad game; the final goal was an empty-netter with 7 seconds left, and the Sharks put up 24 (!!) shots in the third period alone.
Logan Couture, Brenden Dillon, and Mikkel Boedker all scored, including a beauty of a snipe by Couture. The team hopes to keep up the offensive production tonight against the Pacific-leading Golden Knights, as they aim to tie the season series.
The Sharks continue to push for the playoffs, and tonight's game represents a four point swing in the standings that the Sharks need to take advantage of. If the Sharks defeat the Golden Knights in any fashion tonight, they will clinch a playoff berth. But if the Golden Knights earn at least one point tonight, they clinch the Pacific Division.
