Before you break out the champagne and start trying to sing Auld Lang Syne, there's one last hockey game to be played. The Sharks start off their nine day road trip in Dallas as they close out 2017 against the Stars.
The Stars are currently in the first wild card spot in the Western Conference coming off a win over one of the Central Division leaders St. Louis Blues on Friday.
The Sharks are currently enjoying a three game win streak, most recently coming off a 3-2 shootout win over the Calgary Flames. That win was capped off by one of Joonas Donskoi's patented shootout moves that never fails to disappoint the bench. The Sharks have been on somewhat of a relative goal-scoring streak; eight of the past nine games has seen the team score more than their 2.74 goals per game average (and the sole outcast was a 2-0 win over the Kings).
Nothing definitive has been said about the status of center Logan Couture, but Saturday saw the injured center wear a teal practice jersey rather than the orange no-contact one he's been wearing for the past few practices. Making his return to the lineup today has yet to be ruled out - we'll know more after morning skate.
