Let's take a dive into this week's update of our Next Wave report, presented by Kaiser Permanente.

PROSPECT OF THE WEEK:

  • Quentin Musty (Sudbury, OHL) was named the Sharks Prospect of the Week presented by Kaiser Permanente on Nov. 19 after logging his fourth career six-point game (2g, 4a) with Sudbury, in the victory against Windsor on Nov. 15. Musty has 14 points (5g, 9a) in eight games played on the year with the Wolves.
  • Sam Dickinson (London, OHL) was named the Sharks Prospect of the Week presented by Kaiser Permanente after his eight points (4g, 4a) in three games from Nov. 6-10. He was also named OHL Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks. He is the first skater among his club to reach 30 points on the season.
  • Eric Pohlkamp (Denver, NCHC) was named Prospect of the Week presented by Kaiser Permanente the week of Nov. 4 and has been named NCHC Defenseman of the Week twice. He ranks tied for first among NCAA defensemen in points (13) and tied for third in goals (4).

BARRACUDA

  • The San Jose Barracuda are second in the Western Conference in goals for (54), good for third in the league. Collin Graf and Luca Cagnoni rank in the top five among AHL rookies in scoring, with Graf leading the way with 19 points and Cagnoni sitting in fourth place with 15 points. The Cuda have two skaters (Collin Graf and Andrew Poturalski) who rank in the top 10 in the league in scoring and three (Graf, Cagnoni, and Poturalski) in the top 15 in assists.
  • Yaroslav Askarov was recalled on Nov. 18, his first recall to the Sharks. Askarov ranked third in the AHL with a .939 SV%, tied for fourth with six wins, and sixth with a 1.92 GAA prior to Nov. 18.
  • Collin Graf has found the score sheet in 13 of his 14 games on the year and ranks tied for first among AHL skaters in points (19) and assists (14). He is currently riding a six-game point streak (2g, 7a), including a multi-point in three contests in that span.
  • Luca Cagnoni sealed an overtime winner for the Barracuda with his fifth goal of the season on Nov. 17 against Calgary. It was his first career game-winning goal at the AHL level. Cagnoni ranks second among league defensemen in scoring (5g, 10a).
  • Filip Bystedt potted his fourth goal of the season on Nov. 17 vs. Calgary. Bystedt has eight points (4g, 4a) in 11 games this season and ranks in the top 20 in goals, along with Graf and Cagnoni, among AHL rookies on the year.
  • Danil Gushchin netted his first goal of the season and finished the contest vs. Calgary (Nov. 16) with a multi-goal game. He finished the doubleheader over the weekend with a multi-point effort in each contest (Nov. 16-17).

PROSPECT NOTABLES – NORTH AMERICA

  • Gabriel Carriere (Wichita, ECHL) was recalled on Nov. 18 to the San Jose Barracuda (AHL). Prior to his recall, he logged a .909 save percentage or better in four of his last five appearances, including his first ECHL shutout with 38 saves on Nov. 3, a 3-0 win vs. Rapid City.
  • Jeremie Bucheler (Wichita, ECHL) tied his season-long with a three-game point streak (1g, 2a) from Nov. 10-15. In his first season with the Thunder, Bucheler leads his club’s defensemen in points (8), goals (2), and assists (6) in 14 games played.
  • Nolan Burke (Wichita, ECHL) logged an assist in consecutive games played, with the first coming on Nov. 10 against Tulsa. It was his first helper with the Thunder.
  • Luke Grainger (Wichita, ECHL) found the back of the net for his first goal of the season with the Thunder in the contest against the Tulsa Oilers on Nov. 10.
  • Cameron Lund (Northeastern, HE) set game-highs in points (4) and assists (3) at the collegiate level, including notching his first power-play goal of his campaign, in the contest against Providence College on Nov. 9. Lund leads Northeastern in goals (5).
  • Joey Muldowney (UConn, HE) notched his first power-play marker of the year with UConn and finished the doubleheader against Merrimack College collecting a point (1g, 1a) in each contest.
  • Timofei Spitserov (Vermont, HE) found the back of the in back-to-back games played (Nov. 9-15), including his first multi-point effort of the season on Nov. 9 in the 4-0 victory against UMass.
  • Carson Wetsch (Calgary, WHL) has logged a point (2g, 3a) in five of his past seven games played. Wetsch leads the Hitmen in shots on goal (83) and is tied for second in goals (7).
  • Nate Misskey (Victoria, WHL) logged his 10th assist of the season, becoming the second Victoria blueliner to reach double digits in helpers on the year and ranks fifth among his club in points (14).

PROSPECT NOTABLES – INTERNATIONAL

  • Yegor Rimashevsky (Dynamo Moskva, KHL) tallied his sixth assist of the season with Dynamo Moskva in the 5-3 victory over Avangard Omsk on Nov. 13. Rimashevsky ranks tied for eight among Dynamo Moskva’s forwards in points (9) on the season.
  • Leo Sahlin Wallenius (Nybro Vikings , HockeyAllsvenskan) ranks second among U-19 HockeyAllsvenskan skaters in points (6) and assists (5).
