Svechnikov, 25, appeared in 72 games for the Winnipeg Jets scoring 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists) along with 38 penalty minutes. He registered career highs in nearly every offensive category including goals, assists, points, games played and shots (78). He ranked eighth on the team in hits (104) and finished tenth among forwards in blocked shots (22).
Over the course of his professional career, Svechnikov has appeared in 113 NHL games, recording 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists) with Winnipeg and the Detroit Red Wings. He has also skated in 186 American Hockey League (AHL) games with the Grand Rapids Griffins, registering 101 points (39 goals, 62 assists). In the 2017 AHL playoffs, he helped Grand Rapids capture the Calder Cup, where he scored 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 19 postseason games.
Prior to his professional career, he played two seasons with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), collecting 157 points (64 goals, 93 assists) in 105 games. In the 2014-15 season, he was named to the QMJHL All-Rookie team and appeared in the CHL Top Prospects Game. He also appeared in three games in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with Ak Bars Kazan.
Internationally, he has represented Russia at the World Junior Championships, winning a silver medal in 2016.
The six-foot-three, 207-pound native of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia, was originally selected by Detroit in the 2015 NHL Draft (first round, 19th overall).
