Prior to last season, Carrick spent the previous four seasons in the Carolina organization. He appeared in four total NHL games with the Hurricanes and logged 347 career games at the AHL level, collecting 181 points (40 goals, 141 assists) with 361 PIM. In the 2015-16 season, he was named to the AHL All-Star game and totaled 42 points (nine goals, 33 assists) by the end of the campaign.
Before his professional career began, he skated with the
Mississauga Steelheads
(formerly St. Michael's Majors) and
Sudbury Wolves
over three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Carrick finished his junior career with 101 points (38 goals, 63 assists) in 194 career games.
The six-foot-two, 196-pound native of Stouffville, Ontario was originally selected by Carolina in the 2012 NHL Draft (4th round, 115th overall).
