Prior to his three years in the AHL, DeSimone skated in three seasons for Union College at the NCAA level, appearing in 109 games and scoring 48 points (15g, 33a).
The six-foot-two, 195-pound native of East Amherst, New York was originally signed by San Jose as a free agent on March 30th, 2017.
Gambrell has appeared in 42 games for the Barracuda in 2018-19, scoring 38 points (16g, 22a). Gambrell's 16 goals are third among Barracuda skaters and first among rookies. He also ranked third in points on San Jose prior to his recall.
The 6-foot, 185-pound native of Bonney Lake, Washington was selected by San Jose in the 2016 NHL Draft (2nd round, 60th overall).
In addition, defenseman Jake Middleton has been reassigned to the San Jose Barracuda.
