Dell spent the 2020-21 season with the New Jersey Devils organization, appearing in seven NHL games and one AHL game. Dell has made 126 NHL appearances across parts of seven seasons, earning a 50-47-13 record along with a .905 save percentage and 2.93 goals-against-average.
This will be Dell's second stint with the Sharks, having previously been a member of the organization from 2015-2020. Among goaltenders with 20 or more games played for the Sharks, Dell ranks eighth in franchise history in wins (48), save percentage (.908, tied) and shutouts (five). The goaltender was the Sharks 2017 nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.
Prior to playing in the NHL, Dell won the Central Hockey League (CHL) Championship with the Allen Americans in 2013 and was named the CHL's most outstanding goaltender that same season. He played three seasons for the University of North Dakota, earning a .923 save percentage and 1.79 goals-against average and helping the program win three consecutive conference Championships.
The six-foot, 213-pound forward was originally signed as a free agent by San Jose on Mar. 4, 2015.
