The Capitals’ Second Round series against the Carolina Hurricanes will begin Tuesday, May 6 at Capital One Arena. The start time for Game 1 will be announced when available and the game will be televised on ESPN.

Trevor van Riemsdyk recorded two assists during Washington’s First Round series versus the Montreal Canadiens, both of which came in the third period of Game 4. van Riemsdyk assisted on the game-tying and game-winning goals in the final frame as the Capitals rallied for a 5-2 win and a 3-1 series lead before eliminating the Canadiens in five games. At five-on-five, the 6’3”, 197-pound defenseman was on the ice for three goals for and one goal against (75.0 GF%), which marked the second-highest goals for percentage on the team during the First Round (Anthony Beauvillier: 83.3 GF%).

van Riemsdyk, who spent three seasons with the Hurricanes from 2017-20, played in all 82 regular-season games for the Capitals in 2024-25 and posted career highs in assists (20) and plus-minus (+20). The 11-year veteran led Washington in blocked shots (151) and ranked fourth among Capitals defensemen in shorthanded ice time per game (1:34).
