Story of the Day

The Capitals return home ahead of Thursday’s Game 5, where they have a 4-1 record at Capital One Arena this postseason. Twice in franchise history the Capitals have comeback from a 3-1 deficit to win a series in seven games (2009 QCF vs. NYR; 1988 DSF vs. PHI). In both prior instances, Washington won Game 5 at home to extend the series before ultimately advancing.

This season, the Capitals have won three or more consecutive games on eight different occasions, with seven of those eight streaks including at least one road win. The Capitals, who dropped Games 3 and 4 in Raleigh, have lost three straight games just once all season (Feb. 25 – March 1: 0-3-0).
