FRISCO, Texas -- The Dallas Stars will open the 2019-20 National Hockey League regular season at home on Thursday, Oct. 3 against the Boston Bruins. Dallas will then embark on a three-game road trip to begin the club's road portion of the schedule, beginning with a contest against the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Enterprise Center.

A closer look at the 82-game schedule

The Stars are scheduled to play 82 games during the 2019-20 campaign, with 41 contests at home and 41 on the road.
The majority of the team's Monday through Friday home games are currently scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. The majority of weekend contests are also scheduled for 7 p.m. starts, however all times are subject to change to accommodate television broadcast needs when necessary.
Dallas plays in the NHL's Central Division of the Western Conference along with the Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets. They will play a total of 26 games against their division foes, with 13 games taking place at home and 13 on the road.
The home portion of the schedule features 18 weekend contests (6 Friday, 9 Saturday, 3 Sunday).

Home sweet home

Dallas' longest homestand of the season is four games, which occurs on four different occasions. In October, the club faces the Ottawa Senators (Oct. 21), Anaheim Ducks (Oct. 24), Pittsburgh Penguins (Oct. 26) and Minnesota Wild (Oct. 29). In November, the Stars host the Vancouver Canucks (Nov. 19), Winnipeg Jets (Nov. 21), Chicago Blackhawks (Nov. 23) and Vegas Golden Knights (Nov. 25). In December, the team plays the Winnipeg Jets (Dec. 5), New York Islanders (Dec. 7), New Jersey Devils (Dec. 10) and Vegas Golden Knights (Dec. 13). The final four-game homestand occurs in March, when Dallas faces the Nashville Predators (March 7), New York Rangers (March 10), Florida Panthers (March 12) and San Jose Sharks (March 14).

Let's take it outside

The Stars will host the Nashville Predators in the 2020 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® at Cotton Bowl® Stadium in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday, Jan. 1. The 2020 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® will mark the first NHL regular-season outdoor game for both the Stars and the Predators. The game continues the tradition the League established in 2008 of hosting a regular-season outdoor game at the onset of the new year with the 2020 edition marking the 12-year anniversary of the first NHL Winter Classic® in Buffalo

Gimme a break

This season, the Stars have a five-day break without any games from Jan. 19 - 23, leading into the NHL's All-Star Break from Jan. 24 - 26.

On the road again

Dallas' longest road trip of the 2019-20 season is four games, which occurs on three different occasions. In October, the team travels to play the Buffalo Sabres (Oct. 14), Columbus Blue Jackets (Oct. 16), Pittsburgh Penguins (Oct. 18) and Philadelphia Flyers (Oct. 19). In November, Dallas will travel to Canada to face the Winnipeg Jets (Nov. 10), Calgary Flames (Nov. 13), Vancouver Canucks (Nov. 14) and Edmonton Oilers (Nov. 16). The final four-game road trip occurs in January, when the Stars take on the Los Angeles Kings (Jan. 8), Anaheim Ducks (Jan. 9), San Jose Sharks (Jan. 11) and Colorado Avalanche (Jan. 14).

California love

The Stars wrap up the home portion of the regular season on Monday, March 30 against the Vancouver Canucks. The team will finish the 2019-20 campaign with a three-game road trip to California where it will face off against the Anaheim Ducks (April 1) and San Jose Sharks (April 2) before concluding the regular season at STAPLES Center against the Los Angeles Kings (April 4).
