FRISCO, Texas -- The Dallas Stars announced today additional details for the Sergei Zubov Jersey Retirement Night, which will take place on Friday, Jan. 28 prior to the Stars game against the Washington Capitals at American Airlines Center. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6 p.m. for the start of the jersey retirement ceremony.

Zubov's No. 56 is set to be retired by the franchise, joining Neal Broten (No. 7), Bill Goldsworthy (No. 8), Mike Modano (No. 9), Bill Masterton (No. 19) and Jere Lehtinen (No. 26) as the only players in team history to have their number retired. The Sergei Zubov Jersey Retirement will air live on Bally Sports Southwest beginning at 6 p.m. followed by the game against the Capitals at 8 p.m. Sportsradio 96.7 FM and 1310 The Ticket will air an extended pregame show at 7 p.m. prior to the start of the game.
The festivities will begin at 5:15 p.m. with the Forever56 Victory Green Carpet Show presented by PNC Bank, located on PNC Plaza outside American Airlines Center. Fans are invited to line the Victory Green Carpet on PNC Plaza and watch as Sergei Zubov and his family arrive prior to his jersey retirement in vehicles provided by Lexus. Other Stars dignitaries that are scheduled to appear include owner Tom Gaglardi, Mike Modano, Derian Hatcher, Brett Hull, Ed Belfour, Craig Ludwig, Jamie Langenbrunner, Brad Lukowich, Grant Marshall, Shawn Chambers, Richard Matvichuk, Darryl Sydor, Pat Verbeek, the families of Bill Masterton and Bill Goldsworthy, Brenden Morrow, Marty Turco, Bob Gainey, Rick Wilson, Doug Armstrong, Ralph Strangis and other guests.
The doors to American Airlines Center will open at 5:30 p.m. and the first 8,000 fans in attendance will receive a Replica Zubov No. 56 Retirement Banner courtesy of Bud Light. Early arriving fans will also receive an LED Bracelet courtesy of Bud Light to take part in the jersey retirement ceremony.
Prior to the game, Stars players will wear special throwback 1999 No. 56 Zubov home jerseys on the ice during warmups and a commemorative Zubov patch on their game jerseys. Warmup jerseys will be auctioned off following the game. Additional details on purchasing will be available at a later date.
Limited edition Zubov merchandise will be available for sale at The Hangar Team Stores at American Airlines Center on game night. Additionally, a commemorative Zubov Collector's Cup presented by Dr Pepper will be available for purchase at concession stands throughout the arena.

Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November 2019, Zubov recorded 771 points (152-619=771) in 1,068 regular-season contests over 16 NHL seasons for the Dallas Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers. His 771 points are the second-most ever recorded by a Russian-born defenseman and rank 20th among all defensemen in NHL history. Zubov spent 12 of his 16 NHL seasons as a member of the Stars, registering 549 points (111-438=549) in 839 regular-season contests. Among franchise leaders (1967-present), the blueliner ranks third in assists (438) and plus/minus rating (+103), fifth in games played (839) and seventh in points (549). Zubov is the franchise leader among defensemen in numerous statistical categories including points (549), goals (111), assists (438), games played (839), power play goals (60), plus/minus (+103) and shots on goal (1,694).
The native of Moscow, Russia qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 13 of 16 NHL campaigns, including 10 of his 12 seasons with Dallas, and registered 117 points (24-93=117) in 164 career postseason contests. With Dallas, he tallied 72 points (15-57=72) in 114 Stanley Cup Playoff games and ranks first in plus/minus (+18), second in assists (57), third in games played (114), fifth in points (72) and is tied for seventh in power play goals (9) among franchise leaders. Zubov won two Stanley Cups in his career, once with New York in 1994 when he finished tied for seventh in the NHL and ranking second among League defensemen with 19 points (5-14=19) in 22 contests, and again with Dallas in 1999. He also reached the Stanley Cup Final for a third time in 2000 with Dallas.
Over his career, Zubov made three appearances in the NHL All-Star Game (1998, 1999, 2000) and was selected to the 2005-06 NHL Second All-Star Team. He played on the international stage on numerous occasions, including winning a gold medal as a member of the Unified Team at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France.
