Additionally, defenseman Jani Hakanpää was placed on Injured Reserve (retroactive to Sept. 27) and goaltender Ben Bishop was placed on Long Term Injured Reserve. The team also announced that three players were loaned to the Texas Stars, Dallas' top development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL): left wing Joel Kiviranta, center Jacob Peterson and defenseman Alexander Petrovic.
For the first time since the 2010-11 NHL season, the Stars will open their campaign away from American Airlines Center. The club's first contest of the 2021-22 season will be against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, Oct. 14. The team's season-opening Eastern Conference road trip also includes games against the Boston Bruins (Oct. 16), Ottawa Senators (Oct. 17) and Pittsburgh Penguins (Oct. 19).
Bally Sports Southwest will provide complete coverage of the opening night festivities on Thursday, Oct. 14 beginning at 5:30 p.m., featuring host Lauren Callender, and analysts Brien Rea and Brent Severyn. Color analyst Daryl "Razor" Reaugh and play-by-play announcer Josh Bogorad, along with new rinkside reporter Michelle McMahon, will call the action all season long on Bally Sports Southwest and Sportsradio 1310 and 96.7 FM The Ticket.

Goaltender Braden Holtby (489 GP) looks to skate in his 500th career NHL game this season. The last goaltender to hit the milestone as a member of the Dallas Stars was Kari Lehtonen during the 2014-15 campaign. Holtby also closes in on 40 career shutouts, having recorded 35 in 11 NHL seasons.
Forward Joe Pavelski looks to reach the 400-goal milestone this season. He currently sits six goals away with 394. He has recorded more goals in his career than any other active member of the Stars roster.
