Stars announce Therabody as official recovery partner
The partnership will integrate Therabody solutions into the team's training and recovery regimen
The partnership will integrate Therabody solutions into the team's training and recovery regimen, including Theragun percussive and Wave Series vibration therapy devices, RecoveryAir pneumatic compression system, and PowerDot electrical stimulation devices.
"Our partnership will not only give our athletes access to Therabody's ecosystem of smart, industry-leading devices and solutions, but provide our fans with the resources to apply their favorite players' wellness regimens to their own lives," said Dallas Stars President and CEO Brad Alberts. "The Stars also put an emphasis on finding partners that foster economic opportunities for those who live in our community. Therabody recently opened a second headquarters and distribution center in Dallas and has created over 100 new jobs, which is a testament to their commitment to the North Texas community."
In the NHL, shifts typically last between 45 seconds and one minute, meaning players are exerting maximum effort in short bursts. Common injuries that can occur may result in muscle strains in areas like the groin, hamstrings, glutes, and shoulders. Using a Theragun on these more frequently used areas both before, during, and after games and practices can help players to achieve peak levels of recovery and reduce soreness, allowing them to attack each shift with focus and intensity. The RecoveryAir pneumatic compression system also helps the Dallas Stars players not only reduce muscle swelling and stiffness, but also increase blood flow and clear metabolic waste.
"Hockey demands the highest levels of flexibility, strength, and agility from its players, making a strong recovery regimen an absolute imperative," explains Dr. Jason Wersland, founder and Chief Wellness Officer of Therabody. "We're honored to integrate our devices and research into the Dallas Stars' routines and play a key role in how they optimize their workouts to make recovery a top priority, along with practices, strength training, and nutrition."
As part of the partnership, the team will create a six-episode digital series to showcase how whole-body wellness can enhance performance on and off the ice. The series will be featured on
DallasStars.com
and the team's social media channels and will be shown in-arena during Stars home games. Additionally, Therabody will receive signage during Stars games on the LED Ribbon Boards at American Airlines Center and on the rinkside boards at all Children's Health StarCenters throughout North Texas.
"With our 82-game schedule and the amount of travel required for an NHL club, one of the keys to our success is how quickly we can help our athletes recover," said Brad Jellis, Dallas Stars Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. "The Therabody ecosystem of devices are state-of-the-art recovery tools that are essential to help our players recover quickly. The percussive instruments and vibe rollers assist in all aspects of our off-ice warmup and training, while being portable enough to carry on the road."
The Stars are now the second NHL team that counts themselves as a Therabody partner and second team in the Dallas area alongside the Dallas Mavericks. This partnership with Therabody further indicates the Stars' commitment to whole-body wellness for their players, training staff, and coaches.
