Benn there, done that

Captain Jamie Benn potted his second career postseason power play goal (1-0=1) in Game 1 of the Second Round on Thursday against the Blues. Benn recorded his first playoff power play goal since his Stanley Cup Playoff debut, when he hit the lamp (1-0=1) in Game 1 of the 2014 Western Conference First Round against the Anaheim Ducks (L, 4-3). Last week, the captain tallied a postseason career-high three assists (0-3=3) in Game 5 of the First Round vs. Nashville. Benn's three assists in the middle frame matched the NHL playoff record for most in a single period, which had been most recently accomplished by Washington's John Carlson earlier this postseason (0-3=3) in Game 1 of the 2019 Eastern Conference First Round against Carolina. The forward has inked the scoresheet in five of his seven postseason games in 2019 and has amassed seven points (2-5=7). He shares the team-lead in points (7), ranks second in assists (5) and third in shots on goal (23). Among all NHL players during the postseason, Benn shares 10th in assists (5) and 15th in points (7). The native of Victoria, B.C. has now made three appearances (2014, 2016, 2019) in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and has posted 27 points (11-16=27) in 26 postseason contests.

I just can't wait to be Kling

Defenseman John Klingberg recorded an assist (0-1=1) on Thursday night in Game 1 of the Second Round against the St. Louis Blues. The blueliner has now inked the scoresheet in back-to-back postseason games (1-1=2) and four of his last five playoff contests (1-5=6). On Monday night, Klingberg potted the overtime goal (1-0=1), his second career postseason goal, to clinch the First Round series victory against Nashville. The blueliner became the third defenseman in franchise history to record a postseason overtime goal, joining Paul Cavallini (Game 3 of the 1994 Western Conference Quarterfinals vs. St. Louis, W, 5-4) and Mattias Norstrom (Game 3 of the 2008 Western Conference Semifinals vs. San Jose, W, 2-1). Klingberg's goal against the Predators was exactly 25 years to the day of Cavallini's goal, which occurred on April 22, 1994. He posted the first overtime playoff goal on home ice for the club since Brenden Morrow potted the series-clinching goal during the fourth overtime period in Game 6 of the 2008 Western Conference Semifinals vs. San Jose (W, 2-1 4OT). The native of Gothenburg, Sweden has registered seven points (1-6=7) and shares second among all NHL players in the postseason with a +6 plus/minus rating. Among League defensemen in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs, he ranks first in plus/minus rating (+6), shares fifth in assists (6) and points (7) and is tied for sixth in goals (1). He is one of 11 players, and one of only two defensemen (other: Washington's Brook Orpik) to record an overtime goal in the 2019 postseason. Klingberg has skated in 20 career Stanley Cup Playoff games and has recorded 11 points (2-9=11).

Take a Hintz

Rookie Roope Hintztallied his an assist (0-1=1) on Thursday night vs. St. Louis in Game 1 of the Second Round and now has points in three of his last four postseason contests (2-2=4). In the last series against the Nashville Predators, he recorded his first career postseason points with two goals (2-0=2) in Game 4 of the 2019 Western Conference First Round at American Airlines Center. He became the first Dallas Stars rookie to score twice in a postseason contest since center Niko Kapanenpotted two goals (2-0=2) in Game 5 of the 2003 Western Conference Semifinals vs. Anaheim (W, 4-1). Hintz also became fourth rookie to record a multi-goal game in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs, joining Columbus' Alexandre Texier (2-0=2), Carolina's Warren Foegele (2-1=3) and Andrei Svechnikov(2-0=2). The forward has recorded four points (2-2=4) in six Stanley Cup Playoff contests. Among League rookies in the postseason, Hintz ranks first in shots on goal (17), shares second in points (4) and goals (2), while also tied for third in assists (2). The native of Tampere, Finland finished the 2018-19 regular-season ranking second among Stars rookies with 22 points (9-13=22) in 58 games. From Feb. 25 - April 6, he skated in 20 games and recorded 13 points (6-7=13), sharing second in the NHL with three game-winning goals.
