The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Thursday, Aug. 30 will begin at 5 p.m. and will include Dallas Stars President Brad Alberts, Dallas Stars Alumni Derian Hatcher, Mansfield Mayor David Cook, Mansfield City Manager Clayton Chandler and other guests from the Mansfield community. The event will kick off two days of grand opening events including free public skating, skating exhibitions, broomball, a Dallas Stars Xtreme Team clinic and a Mansfield High School club hockey game. The 78,000 square-foot facility will house two NHL regulation size sheets of ice, eight public locker rooms, three private locker rooms for club rental and four multi-purpose rooms. The StarCenter Mansfield will utilize a state of the art Integrated Thermal System to control the ice-making equipment and the internal environmental temperatures, the first such facility in the Dallas Stars' ice rink network with a 50 percent energy-based carbon footprint reduction.
Located at U.S. 287 and Broad Street, the StarCenter Mansfield will offer a variety of services including birthday parties, public skating, corporate events, broomball, figure skating sessions, and learn-to-skate classes for all ages. Additionally, the location will offer multiple options for hockey fans with learn-to-play hockey programs, youth and adult hockey leagues, and various tournaments.
