DALLAS --With wins in each of their past two games, the Stars begin a home-and-home set against one of the league's juggernauts: the Colorado Avalanche.
Boasting the league's best points percentage (.778), the Avs sit atop the league with 70 points and a 33-8-4 record. They became the first team to reach 70 points this season, hitting the mark faster than any club in franchise history (45 games). They have points in 18 straight games (16-0-2) and have one regulation loss in their past 25 (21-1-3).

What's more, the Avs will have Nathan MacKinnon back in the lineup after missing four games with a concussion and facial fracture in a collision with Bruins forward Taylor Hall. The 26-year-old center has 43 points (nine goals, 34 assists) in 31 games this season.
Nazem Kadri paces the Avs and ranks fourth in league scoring with 61 points (19 goals, 42 assists), tying his career mark set with the Maple Leafs in 2016-17. He also paces the NHL in points-per-game average (1.45) and ranks second in assists (42).
As impressive as the Avs' numbers are, the Stars this season have a knack for taking down some of the league's top dogs at American Airlines Center. In addition to beating the Avs in the series opener (3-1 on Nov. 26), they've toppled the Hurricanes, Panthers, Bruins and Penguins. Granted, Dallas' victory over Colorado was nearly three months ago, but the club has proven it can step up against stiff competition.
The Stars enter Sunday's contest riding a five-game winning streak against the Avs and have earned wins in six of their past seven head-to-head matchups (6-1-0). At home, the Stars have wins in each of the previous three, four of the past five (4-1-0) and nine of 11 (9-2-0) against Colorado.
