The first facilities to launch the Future Stars program are Dallas Parks & Recreation, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Dallasand Grand Prairie Independent School District.
"Professional sports teams and athletes inspire all of us and give youth so many positive life aspirations," said Deputy Director, Dallas Parks & Recreation Department Crystal R. Ross. "We're excited about our partnership with the Dallas Stars to create the Future Stars program. Together, we'll introduce hockey to communities typically underrepresented in the sport and create invaluable opportunities for young players to learn game and life skills. Partnerships like this one are vital in helping us expose more youth to diverse recreational programs, develop future generations of athletes and promote active lifestyles and healthy recreation among youth and their families."
These facilities, which are largely dedicated to underserved communities, will provide coaches training, ongoing support from Stars alumni and staff, gym wall wraps, jerseys presented by KeyCity Capital, floor hockey sticks, balls and nets.
"Our partnership with the Dallas Stars uniquely aligns with our core mission of enabling Club kids to reach their full potential," said President/CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Greater Dallas Charles English. "Sports teaches a variety of life skills, from how to be a part of team and encouraging teammates when they're down to being responsible and accountable. We're very excited about introducing hockey to kids that might not have ever been exposed otherwise."
These facilities will have enough support and equipment to implement a hockey program for their youth on a weekly basis.
