Stars head coach Rick Bowness is coaching in his 2,500th career NHL game as a head or assistant coach on Tuesday against Carolina. This marks his 577th career regular-season game as a head coach and 114th as bench boss of the Stars. Over 12 seasons with Winnipeg, Boston, Ottawa, New York Islanders, Phoenix and Dallas, Bowness, 66, owns a 176-328-48-24 record in 576 career regular-season games as head coach.

"I always say every day in this league is a blessing, and we're fortunate to be able to make a living playing a game," Bowness said. "And the fact I've been able to spend my entire life around the National Hockey League is an honor for me."
Bowness, who started as an assistant coach with Winnipeg at age 28 in 1983, has participated in more NHL games as an assistant or head coach than any person in league history.
The Moncton, New Brunswick native has a 53-39-21 record in 113 regular-season games over three seasons as head coach of the Stars and ranks seventh in franchise history with a career .562 points percentage.
As an associate coach with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Bowness coached in his 2,165th NHL game on Feb. 10, 2017, breaking Scotty Bowman's record for the most games coached in NHL history.
