Selected in the second round (47th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft, Stankoven ranked third among WHL skaters in scoring during the 2021-22 season with 104 points (45 goals, 59 assists) in 59 games played. He did so while only accumulating 16 minutes of penalties over that span.
Stankoven recorded three or more points on 18 occasions during the regular season, including a pair of five-point performances Nov. 3, 2021 and Jan. 29, 2022.
Stankoven ranked fourth among all WHL skaters in goals and ranked tied for third in game winners (9). The 5-foot-8, 170-pound forward recorded the second-longest point streak in the league, earning 39 points (17 goals, 22 assists) over 19 consecutive games from Dec. 8, 2021-Feb. 19, 2022.
The Kamloops, British Columbia native is the third player in Blazers history to be named WHL Player of the Year and the first since Jarome Iginla in 1995-96.
Furthermore, Stankoven is the third Blazer to win the Brad Hornung Memorial Trophy and the first since Hnat Domenichelli in 1995-96.
Stankoven added 17 goals and 31 points in 17 playoff games with Kamloops, leading all postseason skaters in both categories. Kamloops fell to Seattle in Game 7 of the Western Conference Championship on May 31.
