MONTREAL -- With the 50th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, the Stars selected Christian Kyrou from Erie of the Ontario Hockey League.
Kyrou, 18, ranked fourth among OHL defensemen with 60 points (18 goals, 42 assists) with the Otters in the 2021-22 season. He also ranked tied for third among league d-men in game-winning goals (four).

"It's pure excitement right now," Kyrou said. "I've waited for this moment for a long time. I'm just excited to hear my name called. It's been a roller coaster of events. I'm embracing the moment."

Kyrou on being drafted by Stars

The 5-foot-10, 182-pound Toronto, Ontario native was voted the Western Conference's Most Underrated Player in the 2021-22 OHL Coaches Poll. His 60 points were the most by an Otters defenseman since Darren Raddysh in 2016-17 (81 points in 62 GP).
Kyrou's older brother, Jordan, was a second-round pick by St. Louis in 2016 (35th overall).
