Stars select defenseman Artem Grushnikov with 48th pick in 2021 NHL Draft

With the 48th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, the Stars selected Artem Grushnikov on Saturday from CSKA 2 of the Russia-Jr. league. The 6-foot-2, 198-pound defenseman posted five points (one goal, four assists) in 29 games with CSKA 2 and two points (both assists) in eight appearances with the CSKA Under-17 team during the 2019-20 campaign.

On the international stage, the Voskresensk, Russia native has represented his country at the 2019 World Junior A Challenge, 2019 Ivan Hlinka Memorial and 2018 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Grushnikov will play next season for the Hamilton Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
