Stars sign center Jason Dickinson to 2-year contract

FRISCO, Texas -- Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nillannounced today that the club has signed center Jason Dickinson to a two-year contract, which will run through the 2020-21 season. The two-year contract is worth $3,000,000 and has an average annual value (AAV) of $1,500,000.

Dickinson, 24, registered 22 points (6-16=22) and a +9 plus/minus rating in 67 regular-season games with Dallas in 2018-19. He established new career highs in goals (6), assists (16), points (22), plus/minus rating (+9) and average time on ice (13:22). The forward also shared first on the Stars with a career-best two overtime goals and was tied for seventh on Dallas with a career-high two game-winning goals.
Dickinson made his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut in 2019, skating in all of Dallas' 13 postseason contests and posting five points (3-2=5). Among postseason team leaders, he finished tied for fifth in goals (3) and shared seventh in points (5).

The forward has appeared in 105 career NHL games, all for Dallas, registering 27 points (9-18=27). In his AHL career, Dickinson has skated in 175 contests and has registered 114 points (49-65=114) with eight game-winning goals. He has appeared in 29 AHL postseason games, where he recorded 11 points (2-9=11) and 46 shots on goal.
"Jason is a conscientious player who plays a very detailed, 200-foot game," said Nill. "As last season progressed, he began impacting games night in and night out, and he really established himself during the playoffs. We fully expect him to continue to build upon that and be a big part of our team for years to come."
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Georgetown, Ontario was originally selected by Dallas in the first round (29th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.
