FRISCO, Texas - Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nillannounced today that the club has signed forward Joe Pavelskito a one-year contract extension through the 2023-24 season. The one-year contract is worth a base of $3.5 million, plus an additional $2 million in potential performance bonuses.

Pavelski, 38, has appeared in all 38 games during the 2022-23 season, ranking third on the team in points (12-25-37), second in assists (25) and tied for second in power-play goals (7) and ranking fourth in goals (12). His +23 plus-minus rating paces the team and ranks second in the NHL.

Since joining the Stars prior to the 2019-20 season, Pavelski leads the club in points (78-122-200), assists (122), plus-minus rating (+62) and power-play goals (38), while sharing first in even-strength points (40-88-128) and ranking third in goals (78). Additionally, he leads the team with 16 goals and ranks second with 25 points (16-9-25) in 34 Stanley Cup Playoff games, helping the team reach the postseason in two of the past three seasons. During the 2021-22 campaign, Pavelski was named to the 2022 NHL All-Star Game in Las Vegas and was named the Central Division captain.

In his 17th NHL season, Pavelski has appeared in 1,206 regular-season games, recording 961 points (433-528-961). Amongst all-time NHL leaders, he shares 39th in power-play goals (159) and ranks 75th in goals (433). On Dec. 17 against Carolina, he skated in his 1,200th NHL contest and ranks third amongst active U.S.-born skaters in games played, trailing only Phil Kessel (1,243) and Stars teammate Ryan Suter (1,318). Additionally on Dec. 17, he surpassed Mike Modano (157) for the third most PPG by a U.S.-born player in NHL history, and now trails only Jeremy Roenick (184) and Keith Tkachuk (212).

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound native of Plover, Wisconsin has qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 14 of his 17 NHL seasons, registering 125 points (64-61-125) in 168 career postseason contests. Among active players, he ranks fourth in postseason goals (64), fifth in postseason games played (168) and ranks seventh in points (125). His 64 postseason goals are the most ever for a player born in the United States.

Pavelski has represented the United States four times at the international level. He most recently served as captain for Team USA at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey where he recorded two points (1-1-2) in three contests. Pavelski has skated for his country in two Winter Olympics (2010, 2014) and helped the United States capture a silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Prior to his experience as a professional, he won championships at the USHL level with Waterloo and the NCAA level with Wisconsin.
