DALLAS --Lead by another strong performance from goaltender Braden Holtby, the Stars earned a 3-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues at American Airlines Center on Tuesday.
The veteran netminder has been strong in his two starts in the preseason. He allowed just one goal on 28 shots in the win on Tuesday and stopped 15 of 16 in his preseason debut (two periods) on Sept. 27 in St. Louis.

Joel Hanley, Luke Glendening and Jamie Benn provided the offensive punch for the Stars, who improved to 2-1-2 in exhibition play.

Niko Mikkola scored the lone goal for the Blues, who fell to 3-3-0. Jordan Binnington went the distance in net, stopping 26 of 28.
The Stars broke a scoreless tie midway through the first period when Hanley sent a wrist shot past Binnington for his first goal of the preseason. Setting the screen in front was his d-partner Andrej Sekera.

St. Louis responded 1:13 later when Mikkola buried a shot from the top of the slot through a sea of traffic for his first tally in exhibition play.
Glendening put the Stars up 2-1 at the 6:21 mark of the third when he finished a 2-on-1 rush with Joel Kiviranta. Glendening's shot sailed past Binnington's glove, giving the veteran pivot his first goal of the preseason.

Benn gave the Stars an insurance marker with 1:43 left in regulation to put them up 3-1.

The Stars will finish up the preseason with a home-and-home set against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday (at home) and Saturday (at Ball Arena). Dallas' regular-season opener will take place on Thursday, Oct. 14 in New York against the Rangers.
