DALLAS --In a game that truly went the distance, the Stars pulled off a dramatic 3-2 victory in the seventh round of the shootout to put the Vegas Golden Knights on the brink of elimination in the playoff race in front of a sold-out crowd of 18,532 at American Airlines Center.

A regulation win would've clinched a playoff berth for the Stars outright. Instead, they had to erase two separate one-goal deficits on the shoulders of 22-year-old wunderkind Jason Robertson. The SoCal native scored twice to become the first player since Tyler Seguin in 2017-18 to pot 40 goals in a season.
His first goal evened the score at a goal apiece, a beautiful shot far side on Golden Knights goalie Logan Thompson with 6:29 remaining in the middle frame.

Then, trailing 2-1 entering the third period, Robertson tallied the equalizer three minutes into the final frame off a shot-pass from John Klingberg.

The score held for the remainder of regulation and all of overtime, where both teams traded great looks.
Jake Oettinger made 33 saves on 35 shots through 65 minutes, including a dazzling glove save on Shea Theodore late in the third, but saved his best for the shootout. He denied Jack Eichel, Theodore, Nicolas Roy, Chandler Stephenson, Jonathan Marchessault (post), Evgenii Dadonov and William Karlsson.

Following his save on Karlsson, Oettinger leapt into the air in celebration before being mobbed by his teammates.
