Looking to take control

• The Stars earned a 4-2 victory over the Flames on Saturday in Game 3 to take a 2-1 lead in this best-of-seven series. Joe Pavelski led the Stars with two goals, while Radek Faksa and Roope Hintz each lit the lamp. Miro Heiskanen registered two assists and goaltender Jake Oettinger stopped 39 of 41 shots.
• In 43 career postseason games, Heiskanen has 32 points (eight goals, 24 assists). Since making his postseason debut in 2019, only four defensemen have registered more postseason points: Victor Hedman 44 in 53 GP), Cale Makar (38 in 38 GP), Shea Theodore (37 in 46 GP) and Alex Pietrangelo (37 in 54 GP).
• Oettinger saw his shutout streak end at 128:44, which is the seventh longest in a postseason in Stars/North Stars history.
• The Stars franchise holds a 6-1 record as the home team against Calgary in the postseason and own a perfect 4-0 mark on home ice.
• During the 2020 playoff series, Dallas rallied from a three-goal deficit in the first period of Game 6 and registered the next seven goals to record a series-clinching 7-3 win and advance to the 2020 Western Conference Second Round against the Colorado Avalanche.
• The Stars have won both playoff series against the Flames, most recently registering a 4-2 series victory during the 2020 Western Conference First Round in Edmonton.

Anything but average

• With goals in back-to-back games, Pavelski now leads the series with three.
• Pavelski (37 years, 300 days) is the third player in franchise history to record a multi-goal game in the playoffs at age 37 or older, joining Dean Prentice (39 years, 183 days in 1972) and Doug Mohns (37 years, 123 days in 1971).
• He's also the first NHL player to record a multi-goal game in the playoffs at age 37 or older since Joe Thornton did so at age 39 in 2019.
• The Plover, Wis., native has amassed 122 postseason points (64 goals, 58 assists) in 164 games, tying Jeremy Roenick (53 goals, 69 assists, 122 points in 154 GP) for the fourth-most postseason points by a U.S.-born player.
• His second goal on Saturday marked his 14th career game-winning goal in the playoffs, passing Evgeni Malkin (13) for the most among active players. He has the third most among U.S.-born players behind Chris Drury (17) and Mike Modano (15).
• Pavelski joined Ron Francis as the second player in NHL history to record consecutive game-winning goals in the postseason at age 37 or older. Francis, who was 39 at the time, did so in 2002 (Game 6 of 2002 CQF & Game 1 of 2002 SF).
