Win or go home

• It all comes down to a winner-take-all Game 7 on Sunday night at Scotiabank Saddledome after the Stars evened the series with a 4-2 victory in Game 6 at American Airlines Center.
Roope Hintz and Michael Raffl each tallied a goal and an assist, while Tyler Seguin and Miro Heiskanen added goals. Jake Oettinger stopped 36 of 38 shots for his third win of the series.
• Per NHL Stats, Heiskanen (22 years, 299 days) became the fourth-youngest player in franchise history to score the game-winning goal in a potential-elimination game behind Roman Lyashenko (21 years, 25 days; Game 7 of 2000 CF), Dino Ciccarelli (22 years, 61 days; Game 3 of 1982 DSF) and Steve Payne (22 years, 276 days; Game 4 of 1981 SCF).
• Heiskanen also became the first Stars/North Stars defenseman to score in a potential series-elimination game since Trevor Daley tallied twice in Game 6 of the 2014 First Round vs. Anaheim.

Seventh heaven

• Sunday's contest against the Flames is the 15th time the franchise has appeared in a Game 7, and the eighth since the team moved to Dallas (1993-present).
• The franchise (1967-present) owns a 6-8 record all time in Game 7s, including a 3-5 mark on the road.
• The team's most recent Game 7 occurred during the 2020 Western Conference Second Round vs. Colorado in Edmonton. The Stars defeated the Avalanche in overtime, 5-4, on Joel Kiviranta's game-winning goal. Played in the Edmonton 'bubble' under the league's 2019-20 Return to Play plan, it marked the first Game 7 in NHL history to be played in a city not home to either club.
• The Stars' last true road Game 7 was in the 2019 Western Conference Second Round vs. St. Louis, a 2-1 double overtime loss.
• Since moving to Dallas (1993-present), the Stars are 3-4 in Game 7s and 1-2 on the road.
Joe Pavelski leads the Stars with eight career appearances (seven with San Jose, one with Dallas) in Game 7s, posting a 6-2 record and six points (three goals, three assists) in those eight contests.
• Entering Saturday's slate of Game 7s, Pavelski ranked tied for 13th for the most Game 7 appearances among active players.
• Seguin is second on the team with six appearances (four with Boston, two with Dallas), posting a 4-2 record and posting two points (one goal, one assist).
• Four Stars players have three career Game 7s (Jamie Benn, Radek Faksa, John Klingberg and Vladislav Namestnikov), seven players have two career Game 7s (Roope Hintz, Heiskanen, Esa Lindell, Alexander Radulov, Michael Raffl, Ryan Suter and Andrej Sekera) and four have one career appearance (Luke Glendening, Denis Gurianov, Joel Hanley and Kiviranta).
