'There's something here from somewhere else'

• The Stars and Blue Jackets meet for the second and final time during the 2021-22 campaign.
• The Stars lost 4-1 in their first meeting of the season on Oct. 25 in Columbus.
• Last season, the two clubs met a total of eight times and the Stars earned a 5-2-1 record against them.
• The Stars have bested the Blue Jackets in their past three games at American Airlines Center (3-0-0).
• Forward Tyler Seguin scored the lone Stars goal in the most recent matchup against the Blue Jackets. He's recorded points in two straight games (one goal, one assist) against Columbus and has 12 points (eight goals, four assists) in 17 career games against them.
• Captain Jamie Benn tallied nine points (three goals, six assists) in eight contests against Columbus last season and has five points (one goal, four assists) in his past five home games against them. In 36 career games, Benn has recorded 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists).
• Last season, forward Joe Pavelski led the Stars with 11 points (six goals, five assists) in eight games against the Blue Jackets. His six goals were the most by any NHL player vs. Columbus in 2020-21, while his 11 points were the second-most (first: Patrick Kane, 16 points). In 44 career games against the Blue Jackets, Pavelski has earned 38 points (19 goals, 19 assists).
• Defenseman Esa Lindell has points in each of his past three games against Columbus (one goal, three assists).
• Goaltender Jake Oettinger posted a record of 5-0-1 with a 1.62 goals-against average and .930 save percentage in six games against the Blue Jackets in 2020-21. He allowed one goal or fewer in four of his six outings, including his first career shutout on March 6, 2021.

'And here I am doing everything I can'

• Playing in his 500th career NHL game on Tuesday, goaltender Braden Holtby stopped 39 of 40 shots in a 4-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.
• Holtby became just the 78th goaltender in NHL history to reach the 500-game plateau and is one of just 10 active goaltenders to have done so and the first since Brian Elliott on May 4, 2021.
• With Tuesday night's win, Holtby boosted his career record to 293-137-50, the most wins of any goaltender through 500 games in NHL history.
• He ranks sixth in wins among all active NHL goaltenders and eighth with 35 shutouts over the course of his career.

'Making plans to rule the world'

• Forward Roope Hintz lit the lamp three times for his first career NHL hat trick on Tuesday night against the Hurricanes and is now riding a career-long five-game point streak (seven goals, two assists).
• Hintz became the 34th player in NHL history and the first since Benn in 2013-14 (April 5-6, 2014) to score in the opening 75 seconds in consecutive games. Only one player in league history did so in three straight contests: Johnny Gagnon (3 GP from Jan. 24-Feb. 1, 1931 with Montreal).
• The 25-year-old forward has points in nine of his past 10 games (10 goals, four assists), registering goals in seven of those outings.
• In the month of November, Hintz was tied with Alex Ovechkin (10) for the third-most goals by any player in the NHL (more: Edmonton's Leon Draisaitl - 15 goals and Nashville's Matt Duchene - 11 goals).
• The Tampere, Finland native paces the Stars with 10 goals and shares third on with 15 points.
