We stepped outside and I realize it's been a while

• The Stars and New York Islanders face one another for the first of two meetings this season and the lone contest in New York. These club will conclude the season series April 5 in Dallas.
• It's been more than two years since the Stars and Isles last played against each other, a 4-3 OT victory for New York on Feb. 4, 2020. Denis Gurianov, Jason Dickinson and John Klingberg tallied goals that night.
• The Stars have earned points in five of their last six games against the Islanders (4-1-1), outscoring them 23-12 over that span. On special teams, the Stars have gone 4-for-14 on the power play and 14-for-17 on the penalty kill.
• Dallas has collected a point in the standings in each of its last three games on the road (2-0-1) against New York. The Stars have scored 5+ goals in two of those three games and in four of their last six on the road against the Islanders.
• Captain Jamie Benn has recorded six points (one goal, five assists) in his last three road games against the Isles, contributing to a total of 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in 18 career games against them. He's earned 11 of his 16 points (four goals, seven assists) in nine games on the road.
Alexander Radulov has earned three points (one goal, two assists) in two consecutive games against the Islanders, six points (three goals, three assists) in his last four and eight points (four goals, four assists) in his last eight games against them. He's also riding a three-game point streak on the road (three goals, two assists). In nine career games against New York, Radulov's earned eight points (four goals, four assists).
Tyler Seguin leads Dallas with seven goals and 19 points in 21 career games against the Islanders, with 13 of those points (four goals, nine assists) in 11 games on the road.
Roope Hintz has points in two of his three career games against the Islanders (one goal, one assist).
• Gurianov is riding a two-game goal streak against the Isles.
• Klingberg has two points (one goal, one assist) in two consecutive games against the Islanders, adding to a tally of eight points (two goals, five assists) in his last six against them. Klingberg's earned three points (one goal, two assists) in his last two games on the road and has 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 10 career games.
Ryan Suter has an assist in each of his last two games against New York and four in his last four. He leads Dallas defensemen with 11 points (one goal, 10 assists) in 19 games against them.
Braden Holtby has appeared in 27 games against the Islanders (16-6-3, 2.44 goals-against average and .918 save percentage). He's backstopped his team to a win in three of his last five decisions (3-2-0).
Jake Oettinger has yet to face the Islanders in his career.

Everything so unexpectedly started to feel like a dream

• Klingberg scored two goals, including the game-winning goal in overtime, and added an assist for a three-point performance against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night. It marked Klingberg's fourth career two-goal game and his first since Nov. 3, 2016.
• With the 21st game-winning goal of his career, Klingberg set a new franchise record for most GWGs by a defenseman.
• The Gothenburg, Sweden native has eight points (three goals, five assists) in his last five games. He leads Dallas defensemen and ranks tied for fourth on the team in points (34), ranks second in assists (30) and co-leads in OT goals (2).

I walk outside and people say, "Hey!"

• Defenseman Esa Lindell earned an assist on Thursday night for his fifth point in his last five games (one goal, four assists).
• Through 59 games this season, Lindell leads the Stars with 2:48 shorthanded time on ice per game. He plays 60.7% of the Stars' total SH TOI, tied for ninth in the NHL.
• Lindell is one of four Stars and is the only defenseman to record a shorthanded point this season, sharing second on the team with two (one goal, one assist).
• The Vantaa, Finland native ranks tied for second among Stars blueliners in goals (4) for a total of 21 points on the season.
