The Stars are getting closer to what they believe will be their playoff lineup.
Joel Kiviranta is expected to return to the fourth line tonight after missing 11 games with a lower-body injury. Meanwhile, Max Domi will play his second game and now has a practice and morning skate under his belt. He didn't have that on Saturday in his Stars debut.

"It's nice to get a little more settled," Domi said after being acquired by the Stars last week and then playing on Saturday with no practice time. "It was kind of chaotic for the first 24 hours. But the guys have been outstanding, very welcoming to me. It makes the transition pretty smooth. I'm pretty happy I get another day under my belt."

Domi talks about the high expectations in Dallas

Dallas took a 7-3 win over Colorado and Domi played 16:12. He had no points, but had four shot attempts and looked comfortable, coach Pete DeBoer said.
"I thought he was pretty good," DeBoer said. "He could have a had a couple of goals, a couple of points, a big hit to kind of set the tone. It's not an easy turnaround, but it's not as if he had a disappointing game."

DeBoer talks about Domi's debut as a Star

Domi is centering a line with Mason Marchment and Tyler Seguin. Marchment stopped a 32-game goal drought, and the line had some good scoring chances. Still, the trio should benefit from a few practice days, and could be even better against Calgary on Monday.
"We're all in the NHL for a reason. I think you have enough skill to figure it out," Domi said. "You're certainly trying to build some chemistry with your linemates. Obviously, Mush, me and Seggy have been talking quite a bit about certain patterns here and there. For the most part, you just kind of figure it out."
DeBoer has juggled lines throughout the season but seems to have hit on a few combinations. The top line of Jason Robertson and Joe Pavelski with Roope Hintz had three goals on Sunday and continues to lead the team. Rookie Wyatt Johnston is centering Jamie Benn and newcomer Evgenii Dadonov. Johnston moved past Valeri Nichushkin for the most career goals (15) by a teenager in Dallas Stars team history. Benn is having a comeback season with 55 points (25 goals, 30 assists) in 63 games. Dadonov has a goal and two assists in his first four games.
Adding Domi to a line with Seguin and Marchment gives that trio more scoring punch and moving Ty Dellandrea down to the fourth line also spreads the scoring depth. Now, with Kiviranta back, the fourth line has punch in Dellandrea (8 goals), Radek Faksa (8 goals) and Kiviranta (6 goals). This could be huge for the Stars in the final 19 games.
"That's the difference between teams that win at the end and teams that don't. It's depth," DeBoer said, referencing his own two trips to the Stanley Cup Final. "The times we've won, it's because our depth has outproduced other team's depth. The times we've lost at key moments, it's because we've been outproduced by depth. There's a reason everyone is running around at the trade deadline trying to add pieces."
Key Numbers

He said it
"We knew it was coming. It felt like it was coming for a week or two now. When you're going good you never think you'll find yourself in one of those, but it hasn't been the first one, and it's probably not the last. You try to focus on the little things and keep doing those things well, making the plays and finding yourself around the net. It's good to see them go in."
- Pavelski on the fact both he and Marchment scored goals to break long goal-scoring droughts.
