The Dallas Stars added a new player to the prospect pool, signing RW Tye Felhaber to a three-year, entry-level contract on Friday. The 20-year-old Felhaber is putting up impressive numbers in the Ontario Hockey League, leading the league in goals (56) and ranking fourth in points (100) in 62 games with the Ottawa 67's.
Felhaber, an undrafted free agent, is an overage player and in his final year of eligibility in the OHL. He drew interest from many NHL teams before signing with the Stars.

"It's definitely exciting to join Dallas," Felhaber told reporters after his game Sunday in Ottawa. "I feel like I can bring a lot of energy and skill to that organization. I am glad they are giving me this opportunity. It does take a little bit of the weight off the shoulders, especially being an overager."
It's been an eventful few days for Felhaber, who, along with signing the NHL contract, scored his 56th goal and recorded his 100th point of the season Sunday as Ottawa clinched the top spot in the Eastern Conference with a 3-0 victory over Mississauga.
"It's nice, it's finally all coming together," Felhaber said. "With the whole team here that we have, it's hard not to have success for yourself. It feels good. It's something I've been working my whole life for, and my family has sacrificed a lot of time for me to accomplish this, and I'm just trying to soak it all in."

Felhaber, who is listed at 6-feet, 189 pounds, is a left-handed shot. The Pembroke, Ontario native has some speed, puckhandling skills, the ability to beat defenders one-on-one, and he can finish. This is his fifth season in the OHL, where he has tallied 276 points (142 goals, 134 assists) in 305 games with both Ottawa and Saginaw.
For a while, Felhaber was on more than a goal a game pace, and it looked as if he might score 70 this season, something only seven OHL players have done since 1980 with the last being John Tavares in 2006-07. And before that, it was Eric Lindros in 1990-91.
But Felhaber has cooled off in the goal scoring department recently, tallying just five in his past 14 games and he would have to go on quite a run (14 goals in the final six games of the regular season) to hit that 70-goal mark.
Still, the points have been coming at a steady drip for Felhaber and Ottawa has the best record in the league and put together one of the best seasons in franchise history. Felhaber and the 67's begin postseason play later this month.
