"Mansfield has created a unique synergy in our community for amateur sports, and in particular youth sports," City of Mansfield Mayor David Cook said. "The addition of the StarCenter with its quality facility and well-run hockey and skating programs puts Mansfield in a league like no other community in North Texas and adds to the already excellent quality of life our residents here enjoy. Once again our city is living up to our "best places to live" designation."
The 78,000 square foot facility will house two NHL regulation size sheets of ice, eight public locker rooms, three private locker rooms for club rental and three multi-purpose rooms. The StarCenter in Mansfield will utilize a state of the art Integrated Thermal System to control the ice-making equipment and the internal environmental temperatures, the first such facility in the Dallas Stars' ice rink network with a 50 percent energy-based carbon footprint reduction.
Located at Hwy 287 and Broad Street, the StarCenter in Mansfield will offer a variety of services including birthday parties, public skating, corporate events, broom ball, figure skating sessions, and learn-to-skate classes for all ages. Additionally, the location will offer multiple options for hockey fans with learn-to-play hockey programs for all, youth and adult hockey leagues, and various tournaments.

ABOUT HOCKEY IN NORTH TEXAS:
When the Stars moved to Dallas in 1993, there were five total sheets of ice in the area, only three of which hosted hockey. At that time, there were no high school or travel hockey programs offered, while only 250 local children were playing the sport and just 225 adults were participating in recreational leagues. With the organization's investment into amateur hockey over the past 25 years through construction of Dr Pepper StarCenters throughout the Metroplex, the team has directly impacted the growth of the game in the greater Southwest region. Today, there are more than 8,500 North Texas children and over 5,000 adults skating and playing recreational hockey on over 20 ice sheets in the area.
