Story of the Day

Dylan Strome recorded three assists in the Capitals’ 8-1 win against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday, bringing his season total up to 18 in just 14 games played. Strome’s 18 assists rank tied for fourth in the NHL, while his 1.29 assists-per-game rank third. Strome, who recorded his 200th career assist on Nov. 6, tallied his 98th, 99th and 100th assists as a Capital with his three-assist performance. With 100 assists in 177 games with Washington, Strome became the eighth-fastest player to reach the 100-assist mark with the Capitals.

Strome has recorded an assist in 11 of his 14 games this season, including six multi-assist efforts. In addition, Strome has assisted on all 10 of Alex Ovechkin’s goals this season. The 6’3”, 196-pound center, who signed a five-year, $25 million contract extension with Washington in February 2023, is one of two players ever to record an assist on 10 consecutive Ovechkin goals (Nicklas Backstrom: 11 from April 6 to Dec. 15, 2011) (h/t NHL Stats).
