Sam Hentges

DALLAS --With its final pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, the Wild selected hometown center Sam Hentges 210th overall. The Minnesota native is in his first year of playing in the USHL.

Scouting report: Already committed to play for St. Cloud State University in 2018-19, the Fridley native now has another State of Hockey team watching over him. Joining the United States Hockey League after playing at Totino-Grace High School, Hentges is currently a member of the Tri-City Storm after being traded by the Des Moines Buccaneers earlier in the 2017-18 season.
In 23 USHL games, Hentges has scored eight goals en route to a total of 18 points. One of those goals was a game-winner, helping the Storm to a 2-1 OT win over the Youngstown Phantoms. In three seasons with Totino-Grace (2014-17), he totaled 103 points (46-57=103) and 69 penalty minutes.
Henkes was also named to the U.S. Junior Select Team for the World Junior A Challenge in 2017.
