Wild adds Fleury in deal with Chicago

ST. PAUL -- Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a conditional first-round selection in the 2022 NHL Draft. In the event Minnesota advances to the Western Conference Final and Marc-Andre Fleury is the winning goalie of record in a minimum of four games in the first and second rounds combined, Chicago will receive Minnesota's first-round selection in the 2022 NHL Draft. In the event both conditions are not satisfied, Chicago will receive Minnesota's second-round selection in the 2022 NHL Draft. In addition, Chicago will retain 50% of Marc-Andre Fleury's contract.

Fleury, 37 (11/28/84), posted a record of 19-21-5 with a 2.95 goals-against average (GAA), a .908 save percentage (SV%) and four shutouts in 45 games with Chicago this season. He has earned a win against every NHL team after his victory against the Vegas Golden Knights on Jan. 8, 2022. Fleury recorded a shutout at Montreal on Dec. 9, 2021 to win his 500th career NHL game and appeared in his 900th career game against the New York Rangers on Dec. 7, 2021. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound native of Sorel, Quebec, went 26-10-0 with a 1.98 GAA, a .928 SV% and six shutouts in 36 games with Vegas in 2020-21. He ranked third in the NHL in wins, GAA and shutouts and won the 2021 Vezina Trophy and the William M. Jennings Trophy.
Fleury is 511-297-85 with a 2.57 GAA, a .913 SV% and 71 shutouts in 928 career NHL games with Pittsburgh (2003-17), Vegas (2017-21) and Chicago (2021-22). He ranks third in NHL history in wins by a goaltender, seventh in games played and T-12th in shutouts. Fleury has appeared in four NHL All-Star Games (2011, 2015, 2018 and 2019). He is 90-70 with a 2.53 GAA, a .912 SV% and 16 shutouts in 162 career Stanley Cup Playoff games and won three Stanley Cup championships with the Penguins in 2009, 2016 and 2017. Fleury ranks third in NHL history in games played, T-3rd in shutouts and fourth in wins by a goaltender in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
He was selected by Pittsburgh with the first overall pick in the 2003 NHL Draft. Fleury will wear sweater No. 29 with Minnesota and Dmitry Kulikov will wear sweater No. 7.
