Wild.com's Dan Myers gives three takeaways from the Wild's 2-0 win against the Vegas Golden Knights at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on Monday night:
1. Kaapo's streak hits seven. What a run rookie goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen is on. Sure he's done a majority of his damage on the road this season, but on Monday night, he brought his show home and was outstanding in the victory, finishing with 26 saves. The victory moved him to 10-4-0 on the season and lowered his goals-against average to 2.13 and raised his save percentage to .926. The shutout was the first of his NHL career. 2. Another fantastic first period. The Wild has made a habit of coming out of the gates hot this season and did so again on Monday night. Kevin Fiala got the Wild off and running 10:51 into the game when he led a 2-on-1 rush with Zach Parise. Fiala was never passing though, flew into the offensive zone then subtly changed direction to the middle of the ice to create more room, rifling a shot over the blocker of Marc-Andre Fleury and under the crossbar for his eighth goal of the season.

The goal by Fiala tied him for the club lead with Joel Eriksson Ek. Victor Rask, who forced a defensive zone turnover that sprung the odd-man rush, was credited with the lone assist. He now has 10 points in 21 games. 3. What's good for the goose ... Last Monday, when these clubs met in Las Vegas, it was the Wild that carried a six-game winning streak into the game. Vegas rallied from a third-period deficit and won in overtime, snapping Minnesota's impressive stretch of games.

This time, it was the Golden Knights that came to town riding a six-game winning streak of their own, so if you're the Wild, why not even the score? It wasn't always pretty for the Wild, but it scored early, it worked hard and it got some outstanding goaltending.
