Here is a look at Novak's stats:
Height: 5-9
Weight: 170 pounds
Shoots: Right
Hometown:Tabor, Czech Republic
2019-20 team:Kelowna of the Western Hockey League
NHL Central Scouting rank: 85th among North American skaters
FC Hockey scouting report:A slight forward who may not impose his will with his size or physical play but is a competitive 200-foot player who plays with natural hockey instincts. The optics of his skating draws concerns, but he is so quick in his ability to accelerate and change direction that he doesn't seem overly hindered. His hip extension is poor and late in shifts he seems to show fatigue, but a good skating coach should be able to turn him into a more powerful and effective skater, which is currently one of his weaknesses. A notably strong passer and a natural when it comes to finding his teammates sticks when he has open ice, he is strong at both subtle and skilled passes. His calling card is the ability to consistently generate offense and is a catalyst for his team, often finding ways to hit the scoresheet even without noticeably standing out on the ice. He has a lot of pop off his stick when shooting, but he needs to be more patient when picking his spots and finding effective shooting lanes. Defensively, he can read the rush and applies strong backcheck pressure using his stick and aggressive demeanor to help aid in breaking up plays. He covers for his defenders on pinches and may not always do the flashy plays but keeps the play simple. Overall, he is a competitive player who exhibits a fearlessness and, while he needs to work on his consistency and skating speed, he shows a dynamic style of play that many teams covet.
On Novak: "Hockey sense, very good hands. Point production was there and he was really driving the play for Kelowna," said Judd Brackett, the Wild's Director of Amateur Scouting.
