Iowa went 1-0-2 in its most recent three-game stretch against Milwaukee and Chicago.
Milwaukee and Iowa opened up a two-game set on Friday, Dec. 8, with Iowa falling, 4-2. Jake Lucchini and Kevin Conley scored the goals for Iowa, Zane McIntyre stopped 29-of-32 shots faced.
The two teams met again the next night with Iowa falling, 4-1. Jujhar Khaira scored the lone goal for Iowa, Jesper Wallstedt stopped 22-of-25 shots faced.
Iowa got back to its winning ways with a 4-3 shootout victory over Chicago on Tuesday, Dec. 12. Vinni Lettieri found the back of the net twice, along with the game-deciding goal in the shootout. Sammy Walker scored his third goal of the season and Lucchini recorded two assists. Wallstedt stopped 25-of-28 shots faced and stopped all three attempts in the shootout.
Through 23 games, Iowa is 10-11-2 and seven points behind Texas for first place in the Central Division. Nic Petan (3-15=18) and Lucchini (9-9=18) lead all Iowa skaters with 18 points, Petan’s assist total ranks ninth in the AHL. Khaira owns 16 points (5-11=16) and Adam Beckman has 14 points (5-9=14).
Wallstedt is 10-5-0 with a 2.09 GAA, a .933 SV% and two shutouts. He ranks second in the AHL in SV%, T-2nd in wins, T-3rd in shutouts and fourth in GAA. McIntyre is 0-6-2 with a 3.82 GAA and a .880 SV%. Iowa will travel to Rockford for a two-game set that begins on Friday, Dec. 15 at 7:00 p.m. and concludes on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7:00 p.m.
