ST. PAUL -- Minnesota Wild General Manager Paul Fenton today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired center Victor Rask from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for forward Nino Niederreiter.

Rask, 25, has recorded six points (1-5=6) in 26 games with Carolina this season. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Leksand, Sweden, owns 163 points (63-100=163), including 15 power-play goals and 13 game-winning goals in 339 career NHL contests with the Hurricanes. He has represented his country in 14 international competitions and earned a gold medal at the 2012 World Junior Championship and the 2017 World Championship with Sweden. Rask signed a six-year contract with Carolina that goes through the 2021-22 season. He was selected by Carolina in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Niederreiter, 26, has notched 23 points (9-14=23) in 46 games with Minnesota this season. He owns 231 points (112-119=231) in 498 career NHL contests with the New York Islanders and Minnesota.
Minnesota hosts the Anaheim Ducks tonight at 7 p.m. on FOX Sports North and KFAN 100.3 FM.
