All 2018 state championship teams in the Youth, Girls and Junior Gold levels (listed below) will be honored by the Wild and select members of each team will be recognized on the ice during the first intermission. The first 3,000 fans age 18 and under will receive a "Skate For State" mini pennant courtesy of Blue Cross.
Starting in January, fans were encouraged to submit their Minnesota hockey-inspired photo or videos using the hashtag #SkateForState on
LivefearlessMN.com
, Twitter and Instagram. Ten video entries and 20 photo winners were randomly selected to receive suite tickets to the April 2nd game as part of the #SkateforState sweepstakes.
The "Skate for State" exhibit is on display near sections 106 and 107 at Xcel Energy Center throughout the hockey season. The display honors the Minnesota Hockey youth state champions and former Wild players who played in a Minnesota Hockey Youth State Tournament.
"It's an honor to be able to recognize and celebrate all of the youth hockey state champions as part of our Skate for State Night," said Minnesota Wild Director of Community Relations and Hockey Partnerships, Wayne Petersen. "Congratulations to all the youth hockey players for their hard work and dedication this season and special thanks to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota for partnering with us on this great program.
"Blue Cross is proud to celebrate youth hockey champions through our sponsorship of 'Skate for State," said Peter Constant, Chief Marketing Officer for Blue Cross. "The commitment that these young athletes show to their teams and the sport of hockey deserves recognition and praise. We warmly congratulate them all."
"Each year, the Minnesota Wild does so much for hockey players in Minnesota, whether its Mite players, Sled hockey players or high school players," said Minnesota Hockey Executive Director Glen Andresen. "Skate for State Night is just another way they have shown such great support for the community-based youth hockey model we hold so dear in Minnesota. Thank you to the Wild and Blue Cross Blue Shield for recognizing the outstanding achievements of the boys and girls from our 14 state champion teams."
