Soucy, 23, has tallied 15 points (1-14=15), 55 penalty minutes (PIM) and a team-leading plus-12 rating in 67 games during his rookie season with Iowa. The 6-foot-5, 208-pound native of Viking, Alta., ranks T-7th amongst AHL rookie defensemen in plus/minus rating. He signed a two-year, entry-level contract starting with the 2017-18 season on April 10, 2017, and skated in three games with Iowa last season. Soucy registered 15 points (3-12=15), 55 PIM and 53 blocked shots in 35 games during his senior season at the University of Minnesota Duluth (NCHC) in 2016-17 as the Bulldogs lost to the University of Denver in the NCAA Championship game. He served as an assistant captain and ranked third on the team in PIM and fifth in blocked shots.
Soucy totaled 47 points (12-35=47) and 216 PIM in 147 career games with the Bulldogs (2013-17). He led the team with 61 PIM during his junior season and ranked fourth in blocked shots (39). Before playing college hockey, he totaled 15 points (5-10=15) and 75 PIM in 42 games during two seasons with Spruce Grove in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Soucy was selected by the Wild in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and will wear sweater No. 60 with Minnesota.
