ST. PAUL, Minn. --Some stories write themselves. Stories that tug at your heartstrings and remind us all that beneath our affinity for sports wins and goals, it's the people and the movie-like moments that make the game great.
It's Nate Prosser, an Elk River native, scoring the overtime winner against the Dallas Stars on Hockey Day Minnesota in 2014 when Elk River was the host site for Hockey Day.
It's Minnesota native Darby Hendrickson scoring the first goal for the Wild.
It's a slew of magical moments that never cease to make you hair stand up and hit you in the feels harder than Marcus Foligno crushes an opponent into the boards.

The Wild saw another such story on Saturday night in St. Paul. The headline is a complete comeback overtime victory against the Carolina Hurricanes -- an early Stanley Cup favorite.
But the story; the story is Alex Goligoski.
The veteran blue liner was honored with a pregame celebration to recognize his 1,000th NHL game, a milestone achieved on Oct. 20 against the Vancouver Canucks. Goligoski has only played one game since. He has been a healthy scratch from the roster the past six straight games, and 12 of 13 since, but finally slotting back in on Saturday.
"I mean, it's been terrible (to not play) … to be honest," The 37-year-old said postgame. "I mean, I'm not used to that. I'm not used to coming to the rink and not playing. That's why I'm a little emotional right now. Yeah, it sucked. But you've got to make the most of your opportunities, so that's what I'm trying to do."
Goligoski insured he will get another opportunity, scoring the game-winner in the extra frame by finishing a pass from Sam Steel to beat Pyotr Kochetkov and secure the two points.
Goligoski tumbled into the boards and was immediately surrounded by his teammates. Cheers erupted in the stands, and the video panned to his parents and wife and son and daughter who were equally as elated in their own suite.
"I mean, everything. It was a big night," said Goligoski through tears. "I had so much family and friends in the building. I was emotional with my family even before, so just to end up like that, it was just a crazy, emotional night."
Goligoski has 85 goals and 459 points through 16 years in the NHL (and 1,0002 games). He has his name etched into the Stanley Cup. But this moment. This magic. This win -- it hits different.
"It's been a long time since going in, but just happy to help the team win a game like that. Just an awesome night.
"I'm just going to soak this one up for a bit."
So will everyone else.
"It's pretty special, right?" said coach Dean Evason. "We talked after the game that it's a team game. There's no question about that. But to a man, to a woman, everybody, it's pretty special to see that happen on a night like that for him individually. But I guarantee he only cares about the team."
