Minnesota Wild Launches Wild Alumni Association

SAINT PAUL, Minn. -The Minnesota Wild today announced the official launch of the Minnesota Wild Alumni Association. The Wild Alumni Association was created to help former players reconnect with their teammates and provide new opportunities and relationships with the current organization, both on and off the ice. The Wild Alumni Association will also help support the organization's business and community initiatives, with a focus on continuing to build a greater State of Hockey.

"We are very thankful for the hard work and efforts of our alumni," said Minnesota Wild owner Craig Leipold. "We are excited about the Wild Alumni Association and the positive impact they will provide for both our organization and our community."
The Minnesota Wild will provide the Wild Alumni Association with opportunities to attend select home games and coordinate networking events for the group. The team has partnered with
Teamworks
to help with scheduling events and to provide a database for Alumni to connect with each other. An alumni committee consisting of select Wild alumni, Wild front office personnel, community members and local personalities will be created to help create community and networking opportunities.
"There are a lot of former players like me that continue to make Minnesota their home," said former captain Mikko Koivu. "I am excited to be part of the Minnesota Wild Alumni Association and look forward to connecting with alumni and working together on events and initiatives that will strengthen our connection to the community we live in."
Since the Minnesota Wild began play in the NHL in 2000, a total of 297 players have appeared in a game with the Wild. From this group, over 40 alumni currently live in Minnesota. The Wild Alumni Association will be managed by Andrew Heydt, who is in his ninth season with Wild, and also serves as Director of Team Operations.
"This is an exciting time for the Wild as we officially begin to recognize all the players, coaches and management that have been a part of our team's history," said Andrew Heydt, Director of Team Operations and Alumni Relations. "The alumni group is open to any person that was part of building our rich history over the past 22 seasons. I am excited to watch old friendships get renewed and new ones be born."
The Minnesota Wild will continue to support the Minnesota NHL Alumni Association, an organization that is for all NHL players that were either born or live in Minnesota, but did not play for the Wild, including many former North Stars players.
