Wild About Reading

The Minnesota Wild is proud to present the Wild About Reading program which will run from Feb. 5 through March 15, 2024. The goal of Wild About Reading is to increase student literacy by encouraging kids to read. Wild About Reading is a great way for students to stay engaged with reading at home or at school while participating in a reading program with a Minnesota Wild theme.

Wild About Reading is a 4-week program that will for run 6 weeks to account for spring break weeks. This program allows parents, students and teachers to download weekly posters, reading logs and bookmarks from the comfort of their home. Additionally, teachers can use the reading logs to set weekly goals and distribute certificates of completion to students once they finish the 4-week program.

Like previous years, 12 participating classrooms will be randomly selected to receive a virtual classroom visit from the wife or significant other of a Minnesota Wild player. Virtual classroom visits will be scheduled mid-March. Minnesota Wild players' wives will virtually read an age-appropriate book to the entire classroom. After each appearance, Wild players will sign the books read by their wife or significant other. Autographed books will be donated to the participating school or classroom.

Additional incentives include the following. These incentives are randomly chosen and in no particular order.

  • A Nordy classroom visit - this is subject to availably.
  • Team Dog Visit - Our team dog, Hatty, is a golden retriever and loves kids. Her visit is also subject to availability.
  • Pair of Tickets to a Minnesota Wild home game + "mutually agreed upon date."
