The Avs acquired it from the New Jersey Devils along with forward Mikhail Maltsev in exchange for defenseman Ryan Graves on July 15. The Avalanche sent its own pick in the second round, along with its second-rounder in the 2022 NHL Draft, to the Islanders on Oct. 12, 2020 to acquire blueliner Devon Toews.
Colorado presently does not have a pick in the fourth, fifth or sixth rounds. The club sent its fourth selection (No. 124) to the Ottawa Senators on Feb. 24, 2020 in exchange for Vladislav Namestnikov.
The Avalanche combined its fifth-round spot (No. 156) and rear guard Greg Pateryn in a trade with the San Jose Sharks for goaltender Devan Dubnyk on April 10, 2021. Colorado also used its sixth-rounder (No. 188) to acquire netminder Jonas Johanssson from the Buffalo Sabres on March 20, 2021.
