Carl Soderberg Vegas Golden Knights preseason 2017 September 19

Carl Soderberg will be back in the Colorado Avalanche's lineup for this afternoon game against the Vegas Golden Knights after missing the past two contests with an illness.
Soderberg practiced on Friday on his old line with wings Blake Comeau and Matt Nieto, and Avs head coach Jared Bednar confirmed after the session that the center was good to return to game action.
Goaltender Semyon Varlamov will get the nod in net for Colorado and will look to bounce back against Vegas after stopping 15-of-20 shots in team's 7-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Friday. The Avalanche was outshot 35-30 overall in the contest.

"You know looking at Varly's history after a tough game, he has been really good," said Bednar on Friday. "He got a little rest and had a good practice today. Short, quick practice, got what he needed. It's a 1 o'clock game again tomorrow, and we have liked the way he's playing so we are going to go back with him."
It will be the seventh game in a row that Varlamov has started and will also mark the 20th straight outing (18 starts) that he has played in. His career high for consecutive games played is 22 (all starts) that he set during the 2014-15 campaign (Jan. 15-March 8, 2015).
Spencer Martin will backup Varlamov, as netminder Jonathan Bernier has been ruled out with an infection from a cut. Martin, who was reassigned to the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League on Thursday, was officially called back up to the Avs this morning.
Sven Andrighetto did not practice on Friday, and Bednar didn't give an update on the forward's status following the on-ice session.
Bednar did not have a media availability before today's matinee contest, but he said on Friday that he was thinking about possibly making some other lineup changes but had yet to make a final decision.
Below is the lineup the Avalanche used in Thursday's contest versus Kings, with the only changes to it being Soderberg returning to his center position on the third line and Martin backing up Varlamov. Vladislav Kamenev skated in Soderberg's spot against Los Angeles.
